Overview
 

Altair was a Star born outside the Lyra Constellation who became known throughout Asterra for his exploration of distant and unmapped regions of space.

Unlike many explorers who focused on charting new routes, Altair dedicated much of his career to investigating unusual signals and anomalies reported beyond known sectors.

Several records suggest he believed there were still undiscovered regions of the universe waiting to be found.
 

Historical Records
 

Prior to his disappearance, Altair completed numerous expeditions beyond established navigation routes.

His discoveries significantly expanded Asterran star charts and led to the identification of several previously unknown sectors.

Contemporary records frequently describe him as:

• Curious

• Determined

• Reckless

• Optimistic

Many fellow explorers considered Altair brilliant.

Many considered him impossible to keep track of.
 

Relationship to Vega
 

Recovered records identify Altair as a close relative of Vega.

Several personal accounts suggest he served as both mentor and role model during her early years.

Many of Vega's interests in exploration and astronomy are believed to have originated from stories shared by Altair during his travels.

 

The Final Expedition
 

Archive records indicate that Altair departed Asterra several cycles before the beginning of The Fading.

The purpose of the expedition remains unknown.

His flight plan contained multiple unexplained deviations from established exploration routes.

The final confirmed transmission recovered from his vessel states:

"The signal is real."

No further communications were received.
